Our advanced gum care is focused on helping to save natural teeth when routine treatment is no longer enough. As gum disease progresses, it can affect the gums and supporting bone, leading to recession, deeper gum pockets or loose teeth.

When Gum Disease Becomes More Advanced
Early gum problems are often limited to inflammation and bleeding and can usually be managed with professional plaque and tartar removal alongside good home care.
More advanced gum disease, known as periodontitis, affects the tissues and bone supporting the teeth. You may notice persistent bleeding, gum recession, bad breath, spaces developing between the teeth or some movement of the teeth.
The good news is that even when gum disease has become more advanced, there is often a great deal we can do to stabilise the disease and protect teeth.
Advanced treatment without surgery
Not every case needs surgery. In many cases, the first step is to carefully remove plaque and tartar from beneath the gum line and around the roots of the teeth, usually with local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable
Once the gums have had time to heal, we reassess the areas that were affected. Many respond very well to this treatment alone.
When Gum Surgery May Help
If deeper areas of gum disease remain, surgery can give us better access to areas that are difficult to treat effectively from above the gum line.
Depending on what we find, treatment may be used to reduce persistent gum pockets, carefully treat the root surfaces or, in selected cases, help rebuild some of the support that has been lost around the teeth.
Every case is different, so treatment is planned around what will give the affected teeth the best possible long-term outlook.

More complex gum problems can be assessed and treated by Dr Iman Namjoynik, who has undertaken postgraduate training in Periodontology and has a special interest in advanced gum treatment.
Our approach is deliberately conservative: we aim to preserve your natural teeth wherever possible, use surgery only when it offers a genuine benefit, and make the whole process feel clear, comfortable and well planned from the beginning.
