Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made restorations placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their shape, colour and overall appearance. They can be used to create subtle refinements or a more noticeable change to your smile. Each veneer is individually designed to complement your features and surrounding teeth, giving a natural-looking result while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.

What Can Veneers Improve?

Porcelain veneers can improve chipped, worn, uneven or discoloured teeth, close small gaps and refine the overall shape and proportion of your smile.

They may also be considered when whitening, composite bonding or orthodontic treatment alone cannot achieve the result you want. We will discuss the more conservative options first and explain whether veneers are appropriate for you.

What Happens During Treatment?

We begin by discussing the changes you would like and assessing your teeth, bite and smile.

A small amount of tooth structure may be removed to create space for the veneers, making the treatment generally irreversible. We then take impressions or digital scans so your bespoke veneers can be made. At the final appointment, we check the fit, shape and shade with you before bonding them securely into place.

Looking After Your Veneers

Porcelain veneers are strong and highly resistant to staining, but they still need the same care as natural teeth.

Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between the teeth and avoid habits such as biting nails, chewing pens or using your teeth to open things. If you clench or grind your teeth, we may recommend a protective night guard.

With good care, porcelain veneers can remain attractive and functional for many years, although like any dental restoration they may eventually need repair or replacement.
