Oral surgery covers dental treatments that require a surgical approach, from difficult tooth removal to selected procedures involving the gums and supporting bone.
With the experience within our team, almost all extractions can be carried out here at Cramond House, under local anaesthetic or with dental sedation where appropriate. This allows you to remain in familiar surroundings, with continuity, reassurance and comfort throughout your care.
Dr Nik is a dentist with a special interest in oral surgery and dental implantology who leads our care for cases beyond routine general dental treatment, from complex extractions to a wide range of minor surgical procedures.
Wisdom Teeth & Complex Extractions
Some teeth can be more challenging to remove because of their position, root shape, previous damage or proximity to important structures. This may include impacted wisdom teeth, deeply broken teeth, retained roots and extractions that require a surgical approach.
We can assess these cases with appropriate X-rays or 3D imaging where needed and plan the safest approach before treatment. With careful planning and experienced hands, even complex extractions can often be completed smoothly and comfortably within the practice.
Minor Oral Surgery
Our oral surgery service also includes a range of minor surgical procedures. We can help where a previous extraction has proved difficult, a fragment of tooth remains, or problems have developed during healing.
This may include:
1. Orthodontic and selected deciduous tooth extractions
2. Closure of communications between the mouth and sinus
3. Frenectomies and crown lengthening
4. Socket preservation and selected bone grafting procedures
5. Treatment of retained fragments, bleeding, infection or inflammation following dental surgery
